Russian State Chorus named after Sveshnikov with 70th years history is a national property of Russian Federation, real legend of world choral singing. It is hard to overestimate creative contribution of famous collective to the saving age-old singing traditions of motherland.
National Choir USSR was created in 1936, based on Union Choir of Radiocommittee, established by Alexandr Sveshnikov in 1928. Real important for The Choir were years under leadership of Nikolay Danilin as of creative director, leading figure in Russian Choir Art. He put the foundation of professionalism, which determined the way of creative development for years ahead.

Since 1941 director of State Choir of Russian Song became Alexandr Sveshnikov. Because of his many long years work, Russian songs were heard in many countries of the World. The choir cooperated with D. Shostakovich, V. Shebalin, Y. Shaporin, Z. Kodai, Е. Golubev, R. Shchedrin, R. Boyko, G. Sviridov, I. Markevich, Y. Ferenchic, N. Rakhlin, E. Svetlanov. Among of huge numbers of fund records special place occupies recording ‘All-night vigil’ (1996) conferred of many international awards.
From 1980 to 2007 a lot of famous conductors were at the head of legendary collective: People's Artist of Russia Igor Agafonnikov (1980 – 1987), People's Artist of USSR Vladimir Minin (1987 – 1990). From 1991 to 1995 People's Artist of Russia Evgeniy Tytyanko was head of The Choir. From 1995 to 2007 People's Artist of Russia Igor Raevskiy was leading of The Choir.

Since 2008 Art Director and Chief Conductor of The Choir - famous conductor Boris Tevlin with his credo – union of classic traditions and innovations.
State Chorus named after Sveshnikov managed by Tevlin took part in international festivals: ‘In the Memory of Khrennikov’ (Lipetsk) ‘April Spring’ (North Korea), ‘Festival of symphony orchestras of the World’ (2008, 2009); ‘All-Russian festival of choral music in Cremlin’; in concerts in Moscow conservatory as of part ‘Russian Winter’ festival , ‘In the Memory of Oleg Yanchenko’, ‘Shnittke and his contemporaries’.
